Know how many years I spent thinking the Matrix was real?
President T is an old school grime MC, best known for his unique flow and being a don in the game. Him and Chip are both from Tottenham.
“Kill Off Killy” is the name of one of the singles off his latest mixtape and somewhat of a catchphrase of his.

This bar as well as the track title is one of Chip’s favorite punchlines. He has been referencing it in his war dubs against Tinie Tempah and Bugzy Malone since Bugzy dissed his haircut for resembling Sonic the hedgehog. Chip has said he uses it so much because it symbolizes how he can’t run out of bars. Sonic Boom is also the special move used by Guile in Street Fighter, that being Chip’s favorite character in the game as he said during his Dine Daily. What he’s saying here is that he turned 2 MC’s coming at him into a counter attack on both of them.

These lines are lifted from “Man Don’t Care” by Jme and “That’s Not Me” by Skepta. The pair (who are brothers, named Jamie and Joseph Adenuga, respectively) are among the most prominent names in grime, both as solo artists and as co-founders of the crew Boy Better Know.
Chip has had a long-running connection with the Adenuga brothers; Jme appeared in the video of the 18-year-old Chipmunk’s “Chip Diddy Chip” back in 2009, with Chip returning the favour for Boy Better Know’s “Too Many Man”. Since then, they have collaborated and featured alongside one another on several tracks. Most recently, Jme featured on the remix of Chip’s “My Bruddaz”.
In alluding to the recent work of his fellow North London MCs, Chip is crediting his influences, as well as “repping [his] ends”.
A subtle dig at Bugzy Malone, who Chip beefed with all throughout 2015. Bugzy is from Manchester (“way up north” compared to London), yet Chip can still pull girls in Manchester easier than Bugzy can due to his bad attitude.
Chip dubbed himself the ‘grime scene savior’ in which case he would be Neo and his pal Morpheus would be Tinnie.
Here, the Matrix could be a reference to the industry. So he had to come back to purge the fake Mcs (the agents) thus save grime, and now realized that people he thought loved him were all fake.
This is implied throughout the song especially in the 1st bars ‘…see these niggas changing faces…’
Chip wants to hear praise but he doesn’t need ratings as he rates himself. He refers to these last 3 lines as bipolar because they are suggesting the complete opposite. Despite this, they still sound amazing.
Chip is from the era when Grime was emerging from other genres such as Garage. He used to do clashes with several MC’s so these days when rappers say they want to clash they don’t have the capacity of it that Chip holds. Lick is a Patois word meaning to get physically beat.
Chip is wise beyond his years and knows he doesn’t always have to reply to a diss straight away.
“Light Work” would be an example of this, as he responded to several diss tracks aimed at him from Bugzy Malone 6 months later.
This is most likely a reference to the street fighter series as he mentions sonic boom Guile’s signature move. And charging in street fighter would mean holding down back to charge up for special moves for certain characters such as Guile’s sonic boom.
This is also a nod to how he went back into the grime scene.
