Sonu Nigam
Sonu Nigam is an Indian playback singer, actor, dubbing artist, and music director who was born on July 30, 1973. Sonu began accompanying his father to weddings and parties when he was four years old, performing veteran Indian singer Mohammed Rafi’s “Kya Hua Tera Wada” on stage for the first time.
Sonu Nigam is considered as one of the best singers in the history of Indian cinema as sung more than 6,000 songs in 32 languages and popularized among audiences with alias ‘Modern Rafi’. At the age of 19, he moved to the Mumbai with his family to pursue the musical career where he took the training of Indian classical music from Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan.
Nigam began his career in 1992 with a national television DD1’s series Talash and debuted with a song “O Aasman Wale Zameen Pe Utar Ke Dekh"” in the Indian cinema, and released album Rafi Ki Yaadein. in the same year, in 1990 he recorded his first song, but the movie was never released due to unknown reasons.
With the remarkable contribution in the Indian cinema, Nigam has received too many national, and TV awards, some of the specific are Padma Shri, Bharat Ratna & Filmfare Award for Best Playback Singer.
With keeping the authenticity in the music, Nigam has the versatility in the talents, as he has been seen too many times doing mimicry of veteran Bollywood singers and modulating his vocal into a female voice flawlessly.
Nigam has begun his acting debut as a child artist in 1982 in a Bollywood movie Kaamchor, and appeared as main judge in various popular singing reality shows such as Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, Indian Idol, X Factor (India), also hosted Mirchi Awards several seasons.
