Thomas Ison, better known as Ricky Jamaraz, is a 17 year old indie artist who writes, records and produces his own music in his bedroom.

He started making his own music with the help of his dad on May 2021, releasing in September his debut album Tunes From Deep Within, which is a remake of originally named Any Day Now, that can be found exclusively on his Soundcloud.

In 2022, Ricky released two albums – Dw, I’m All Good! in February, and You Me Us Them, in August – and then later the EP 2am Jams. More people started finding his music with the newfound success of tracks such as “I Don’t Love Myself” and “I Miss You”.

Then, in October 2022, Ricky posted a snippet on TikTok of a demo he started working on, entitled “Microwave”. The video went viral, and the song was set to release in February 10, 2023, as the first single of his next album.

Even though nowadays it is one of his least favourite songs on his discography, “Microwave” was the entry for Ricky to gain a broader audience, even achieving a live performance at a BBC Music Introducing Show.

After the release of three more singles throughout the year of 2023, Ricky published his fourth album Worst Album Ever, which is, to date, his most popular album. It contains tracks such as “Starry Eyes”, “Castle (You’re So Lilac)” and “Hi, I’m Ricky”.

Jamaraz also got to present on Splendour Festival shortly before WAE’s release, notably being the youngest person to ever play on it.

He released another two albums on the same year: Honestly?, which dropped unannounced with minimal marketing, containing more personal songs; and Dec. 13th 1998, which tells the story of two fictional characters, Chester Howls and Marshall McKaire, on the city of Anagood.

Other notable releases on the same year were a cover of “We Fell In Love In October”, a halloween EP titled Jamoween and a single with two tracks, which lyrics were written by his friend Caleb aka Skate Merit, called Fuck Yr Metaphors!!.

At the end of 2023, Ricky started experimenting with analog music production, recording covers and some of his previous work on cassette tapes and publishing them on his Bandcamp.

In 2024, he decided that his seventh album would be fully produced on an 8-track cassette recorder — and so was born Return To Zero, releasing on his seventeenth birthday. Its deluxe version contains most of the demos made during the year, totaling 46 tracks, and is considered to be his 8th full-lenght release.

Right now, Ricky is writing his 9th and 10th album simultaneously, as they will follow the same storyline, and the plan is to have 10 LPs under his name before turning 18.
