Jonathan Thompson a.k.a “MZ RYME” or “MZ”, is an unsigned Hip Hop/Rap Artist, Producer, Songwriter, born and raised in Canton, Georgia. MZ was introduced old school Hip Hop, R&B, Pop, and Jazz music by his mother & father at a very young age and started too heavily listen to more Hip Hop music at the age of 12 by writing lyrics that tell a story. He cited that his musical influences are The Notorious B.I.G, Nas, J. Cole, Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, and Eminem. At the age of 17, he brought his first music software “FL Studios” and he began his production side of his career. At the age of 18, his mother passed away from cancer and pneumonia. It affected his life so much because he lost his “best friend” and decided to take a 2 year hiatus from music to focus on school. At the end of his 2nd year of college, he decided to start working on a project. During the summer of 2018, MZ came out with his first EP “The Beginning of a New Chapter” which had the lead singles “Illusionz”, “Hypnotized”, and “Thinkin' of You” (ft. Christian Awong). He stated he was working on his new project and planning to release it in the summer of 2019 but, budget cuts came in and he had to push the project back to the summer of 2020. MZ states that this project will give a glimpse of his pain and suffering he has been going through his whole life. He said he was done with the project and plans to drop the album in the summer even through COVID-19 pandemic.

-He received his bachelor’s degree in Music & Business at Middle Tennessee State University.

-His favorite basketball team is the San Antonio Spurs.

-His goal is open up his own songwriting and music production one day.
