ecotone

between IRL and URL, between digital and analog, a home for creatives.

ecotone was a short-lived record label, running from 2020 to 2022, that sought to release experimental and ambitious music from the internet’s indie musicians. Through its 1-year-and-8-month run, it’d released music from the likes of torr, To Oscar, wishlane and phritz.

In the team’s statement for shutting down, they wrote “…our passion for some of the tasks involved in running a label has waned. We simply don’t have the time, energy, and attention necessary to live up to our own and our artists' expectations. Moreover, we feel that a continued trend in the industry has made labels less necessary than before. Artists can be successful independently, and working with a traditional middleman like a label doesn’t always bring the benefits it might seem to at first.” They’d conclude the statement, “…keep creating and sharing meaningful art. Don’t be limited by constraints or expectations – no matter what you want to make, someone out there will enjoy it.”

All songs released by ecotone are still available for streaming and purchase, and they continue to pay their artists accordingly.
