Defiant Nature was a nu metal/math metal band formed in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1999 while in high school and disbanded in 2003. They were influenced by bands including Neck, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Candiria, Meshuggah, Ultraspank, Chimaira, Killswitch Engage, and Living Sacrifice.

They played with bands such as Lamb Of God, Anthrax, E. Town Concrete, Still Remains, Depswa, Hotwire, Memento, Five Pointe O, Hotwire, Diecast, Mad At Gravity, and others.

One of the two guitarists, Mike Hafer, now plays in the band ‘Metzfire’, which former Defiant Nature vocalist David Allen is Metzfire’s photographer and artist.
