Post Malone references the iconic comic-book superhero Batman’s signature vehicle, the Batmobile. The Batmobile has been a precious and important piece of the character’s history for almost as long as Batman has existed – the first ever Batman comic debuted in May 1939, and the Batmobile first appeared in only the fifth edition of the original comic, which was released in spring 1941.

Ever since, the sleek car has been one of Batman’s most prominent modes of transportation, appearing in almost every Batman iteration, including comics, movies, novels, and more.

As one of music’s biggest stars, it’s fitting that Post Malone would compare himself to a superhero – he has certainly had his fair share of hits, with three of his songs reaching the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart as of September, 2019: “rockstar,” “Psycho,” and “Sunflower.”

When arriving in Saint-Tropez, Post opted to reset the time on his watch with the change of timezones. Alongside his other expensive jewellery, Post is sometimes spotted in his famous rainbow Rolex, which he wore on the The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Moneyball is a 2011 movie that tells the story of Oakland Athletics manager Billy Beane. During the 2002 season, Beane (portrayed by actor Brad Pitt) tries to assemble a competitive team all while not spending an exorbitant amount of money on players. Though the A’s did not win the World Series that year, they did place first in their division and advanced as far as the American League Divison Series.

Post uses this reference as a way to incorporate one of his most notable lines: how much he ‘balls,’ which he’s been doing since his “White Iverson” days.

In Post Malone’s interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music Post’s father discusses a few topics, one being when he left for LA, which, according to his dad was because Austin told them that “this school thing isn’t for me, I’m going to move to LA” and his dad wished him well with a some advice of “whatever it is [you wanna do] make sure you’re the best at it that you can be”

His parents couldn’t see him for at least 10 months while Austin was couch surfing. With his dad saying that “when Austin left the house the only way to keep track of him was social media”.

Yet, “as parental influences we have tried not to tell him what to do but try to be an example of what to do”

Post has also made similar references in the past on his 2018 track, “Rich & Sad”:

Yachts are luxurious charter boats used for fishing, racing, and most often for pleasure. Normal yachts, which are already expensive on their own, range from 9 to 15 meters in length. Superyachts, on the other hand, can measure from 25 meters and up, are enjoyed by some of the wealthiest people in the world.

Post claims his yacht measures at 50 meters, so it can definitely be classified as “superyacht,” and in his own words, he can consider himself “official” for owning such an expensive vehicle.

Post lives such a global and extravagant lifestyle that each of his regular days are like that of an average person’s hard-earned, once-a-year vacation.

Post makes a straightforward statement about his wealth before continuing on to rap about his lavish lifestyle. There’s no doubt that Post is one of wealthiest rappers to-date with an estimated net worth of $14 million.

Post has continuously rapped about his luxuries, financial achievements, and fortunes on past tracks. Even on the early stage of his career with his hit single, “White Iverson”:

Gianni Versace S.r.l, commonly shorted to Versace is a fashion company founded in Milan, Italy. The company is considered a luxury brand, with a pair of their Greca Border Boxers setting the buyer back $75 USD at the time “Saint-Tropez” was released.

Post Malone has expressed his appreciation for the brand before, buying a pair of $800 Versace loafers before his career took off, when he was still working at a fast-food restaurant.

Abercrombie & Fitch is an American apparel and accessories retailer that has previously been the subject of controversy surrounding their now-discontinued advertising campaigns that revolved heavily around shirtless models and nude imagery.

Post Malone playfully references this to describe his torso, which is interestingly the complete opposite of the way he depicted his physique in a March 2017 tweet:

Richard Mille is the eponymous name of a luxury watch brand from Switzerland. Famously, the brand’s timepieces do not feature precious stones or diamonds but instead boast their unique and innovative engineering.

In an article from 2010, Forbes compared owning a Richard Mille watch to owning a “miniature sports car for the wrist”.

Bud Light, an American beer company, sponsor and partner for Post Malone’s tour. Post often collaborates with Bud Light for his merch. Post teased and promoted his singles, “Stay” and “Circles,” through Bud Light’s Dive Bar Tour.

Beer is one of the repetitive terms in Post’s song, hence the beer in his urine. In fact, Post has always appeared with an alcoholic drink on his hands during any public events. In an interview for Highsnobiety, Post mentioned:

Definitely alcohol, I love to drink, I love to get funky. That’s where it all comes from. You know, I’m a shy guy, so I’ll drink a bottle of champagne and get in the booth, then see where it goes from there. Get the layers down. Get the freestyle woo-wap, get the melodies. After that, I come back and write over it. That’s a big part of my process, because I’m a quiet, shy type of guy.
