In the film and lyric video, the lyrics are changed from “ride me” to simply “ride”
This is probably done to avoid any suggestive undertones, as the film is aimed at kids and young teens.
“Sunflower” is Miles Morales‘ favorite song; he sings it throughout the 2018 film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Sunflowers are known to rapidly deplete their soil of nutrients. Swae Lee and Post Malone may be using this as a metaphor for the effects that several characters have on Miles, which simultaneously overwhelm and motivate him throughout the movie. This is similar to how a sunflower is destructive and yet produces something beautiful.
This line would have originally been “She was a bad-bitch, nevertheless” but bad-bitch was changed to bad-bad to make the song more appropriate for the movie.
The act of “taking the L” means taking a loss or losing. Depending on the context, it can mean literally failing at something or needing to accept one’s loss.
