The alarm rings

It's cloudy outside

I wasted a chance to rekindle romance that had died

Tomorrow

Is sadly today

Yesterday morning

I could have made a new start

With the simplest surprise, I could light up her eyes and her heart

But I waited

A little too long

To make her mine again

There's so many things I could have done

So many things

Like painting a picture or cooking some rice

Building a rack for her shakers of spice

I could have been there to help make her mine

But I wasn't

Now I'm twenty-four hours behind

Shall I call her?

Or leave her alone?

When you think long, you think wrong

And it's nobody's fault but your own

To make her mine again

There's so many things I could have done

So many things

So many things

So many things I could have done

Like filling the lamp oil or copying keys

Afternoon sailing along on the breeze

I could have been there to help make her mine

But I wasn't

Now it's much too late for

Watering roses or holding her hand

Writing her name with a stick in the sand

I could have been there to help make her mine

But I wasn't

Now I'm twenty-four hours behind
