Bugzy believes he “relegated” Chip with his “Relegation Riddim” and that’s what caused Chip to go quiet for almost 5 months, similarly to how the bottom teams in a football league get “kicked out”.

When Chip finally came back firing shots with his “Light Work” diss to Bugzy he was wearing a velour tracksuit, which Bugzy taunts him about here.

Refers to the video game Street Fighter, and the characters Ryu and Ken. Famously, they have always been rivals of each other, continually competing with each other, much like Bugzy Malone and Chipmunk.

Bugzy has shown his love for video games before, with the song “San Andreas Mentality”, a reference to Grand Theft Auto : San Andreas.

Bugzy is implying that chipmunk shaved a part of his hair of due to a line in one of Bugzys earlier diss tracks that said he looked like sonic the hedgehog

Chip was rumoured to be in a massive debt.

Bugzy fell off the map for a bit, taking his time to reply to Chip’s hat-trick of disses. Apparently, this was because things were heating up for him in real life, and he had to prepare for some street beef. His posts to instagram of him in the gym seem to support this.

Chip had a very disappointing start to 2015 when his “Believe & Achieve EP” failed to chart in the top 10 on iTunes. This was quite a significant failure; as Chip’s ‘comeback effort’, it was vital that it succeeded commercially. However, despite wheeling out some of the biggest names in UK Rap/Grime for the singles, and starting beef with Tinie (which many saw as a publicity stunt), it still flopped.

Credit where it’s due, Chip has now turned some of the diss tracks from the beef into the slightly more successful “Light Work EP”, which has overshadowed his first attempt even though it wasn’t his original plan for 2015.

Chip may have spun Bugzy on his replies, but they came too late to get him noticed and nominated by any awards, something which Chip voiced his own frustration over on 96 Bars. Bugzy has been nominated for several, including ‘Best Newcomer’ at the MOBO Awards.

Bugzy getting off one of his shows while on tour noticed Chip’s “Light Work” on someones banner (photo above user profile) up on Facebook. Bugzy then came to find out only a week later that Chip completed his 3rd Diss track in a row and was selling a compilation of all 5 Diss tracks he had sent, take one quick listen to Chip’s “Light Work EP” and it’s no doubt that the majority of it is to Bugzy, but he’s about to explain why Chip’s sends don’t matter to him.

Chip actually mentioned that Bugzy was going to say this again on Light Work:

You can’t finish me without mentioning grime or pop

Then again a couple days later during Run Out Riddim:

Said I went pop, came back, that’s lies
Hip hop in between, blud, that’s true

Bugzy obviously doesn’t care that Chip cut off his bars because he still believes it’s important and slightly true. Even if he knows it isn’t true it seems that Bugzy will stick to his word.

On 24 July 2015 Bugzy Malone released his first EP ‘Walk With Me’, which did very well commercially, reaching #8 on the UK Albums Chart and #2 on the iTunes UK Album Chart.

Bugzy’s diss titled “The Revival” was released on April 7th 2015. Note that by releasing this, he dismissed the fact of how Chip’s response prior to this was titled “The End”. He wasn’t going to let Chip have the last word.

It was five months later that Chip responded with “Light Work”, released on September 11th 2015. Bugzy emphasises how the length of time it took for Chip to respond contradicts the title of the diss, along with the EP which shares the same name. If it really was light work, Bugzy believes it shouldn’t have taken that long.

Making a reference to the horror film Freddy Vs. Jason, where Freddy slices up Jason pretty good but Jason actually comes back to defeat fred. Although at the very end of the film you get a brief glimpse of Freddy giving the camera a wink.

Bugzy’s implying that he isn’t dead either, and that he can come back to defeat this so called victor.

Bugzy’s bars must have hurt Chip if they provoked him to release so many disses, so they obviously went to his head in that sense…

But they also went to his head in a more literal way, as Bugzy’s mocking of Chip’s old haircut coincided with Chip getting a fresh trim before releasing his next diss.

Here Bugzy is saying that Chip (whom this track is aimed at) isn’t brave in real life, and is only aggressive and confrontational through music, so he won’t receive any physical backlash.

Bugzy is most likely referring to Chip’s 96 Bars of Revenge when he said:

I’d be pissed if I died and my fans don’t know how I feel
Going mad tryna hold this stuff in
Grab the pen, let him have it, fuck it
Grade, Henney, psh, buzzing

Bugzy thinks that Chip’s alcohol use will lead to a downward slope.

Bugzy deliberately starts by repeating some bars from his earlier diss, before switching up into the real bars he’s going to spit. He does this to poke fun at Chip accusing him of repeating bars too much on ‘Light Work’.

Bugzy hasn’t gone to get his pen like Chip suggested – in fact, he’s out of ink – but he’s still put out a reply without it. This could be taken, in the literal sense, to mean that Bugzy doesn’t write bars down, instead thinking them up and laying them over a beat straight away. However, it could also be a metaphor for how Chip is empowered through his pen to lie in his bars, whereas Bugzy steps outside of a pen and pad, rapping about his real-life experiences.

Referencing his song “peak” with Tinie Tempah and Stormzy. Tinie and Bugzy are both beefing with Chip and Tinie voiced his support for the track.
