Zenglen
Zenglen started in 1989. The following year, they released their first album An Nou Alez. A masterpiece. They left the country in 1992, and since then, they have been based in Florida.
It’s one of the best Haitian bands at all.
Some of their best works include but are not limited to An Nou Alez, Let It Groove, 5 Etwal, 5e Vites, No Dead End, and their last album Happy 69th Compas.
Zenglen has been the home of many greats of the Kompa Dirèk. Brutus Jean Derissaint, Richard Jean Herard, Nicolena Ferrentino, Romny Louixène Florestal dit El Pozo, Nickenson Prud'homme, Reginald Cange, Kenny Desmangles, Gracia Delva, Frerot JB, Gary Didier Perez and their long-time collaborator Dener Ceide.
Eminix, Shoomy, and Isimic currently lead the band. Nicolena is on the sax, and Kenny Cennat on the drums.
