YGG
AKA: Young Grime Gods, You Get Grime
YGG were a grime trio consisting of Camden MCs Saint P and PK and Ealing resident Lyrical Strally. Alongside My Team Paid (another West London collective comprising AJ Tracey, Big Zuu and Ets among others), YGG also made up the collective MTM. Their name initially stood for ‘Young Grime Gods’, but later changed to ‘You Get Grime’.
The group’s popularity surged with their first three singles, released through Logan Sama’s Keepin' It Grimy label: “Okay”, “Don’t Talk Like That” and “Bad”. Their remix of Sir Spyro’s “Side By Side” also gained widespread recognition after appearing on an Amy Becker-curated EP in 2016.
In late 2016, the members of YGG contributed both individually and collectively to Capo Lee’s Red Bull-curated Why Not 2 mixtape. Saint’s freestyle, “Oh My”, was well-received, as was the Nico Lindsay collaboration “Sky”. Both songs were accompanied by music videos.
The group dropped their nine-track debut EP, World Domination, on 24 November 2017. The project also includes a solo track from each MC, and was preceded by the singles “Three IC3s”, “Lyca” and “Scooby”.
Signing to Flowdan’s label SpentShell in early 2018, the group primarily shifted focus to their solo output, with PK releasing the Bad Ombré EP and Saint and Strally both recording unreleased material once slated for release on the label.
Making seldom few radio appearances in the run-up to, and the onset of, the coronavirus pandemic, the group’s future has been uncertain since PK served time in HMP Highpoint up until August 2024, and shared in December that he had not heard from his fellow members since his release.
