WJSN (우주소녀) is a South Korean-Chinese girl group under both Starship Entertainment and Yuehua Entertainment, which made their debut on February 25, 2016 with the first mini album, WOULD YOU LIKE?. The current roster consists of ten members: SeolA, Bona, EXY, Soobin, Luda, Dawon, Eunseo, Yeoreum, Dayoung and Yeonjung, while the Chinese members, namely Xuan Yi, Cheng Xiao and Mei Qi are inactive since 2018 due to focusing on individual projects.

The first ever news about the group were revealed by Starship in early December 2015 and additionally, it was also confirmed that its members are going to be divided into four units: Wonder, Joy, Sweet and Natural.

After finishing the promotions for their debut extended play, supported by the title tracks “MoMoMo” and “Catch Me”, WJSN went through a shift after on July 10, 2016 a Produce 101 contestant and member of I.O.I, Yeonjung was confirmed to join the lineup, all before making their comeback with the sophomore mini album, The Secret in mid-August of the same year. Furthermore, they have also took part in the collaborative unit with MONSTA X, called Y TEEN and their song, “Do Better”.

The group also released their third mini-album, From.WJSN on January 3, 2017 and one week later on January 11, they announced their official fandon name to be UJUNG (우정), meaning “friendship” or “space station” in Korean, Later on, their first full-length album, HAPPY MOMENT has seen its daylight on June 7, selling over 10,300 copies in its first week. Moreover, on September 1, they unveiled their official fan colors and the design of their lightstick, available for purchase in December.

WJSN’s fourth mini album, Dream Your Dream was released on February 27, 2018 and it was the the last project to feature the vocals from the group’s Chinese members. What’s more, their second concert, Uzzu Party – Welcome To WJSN took place on March 25 and in June, members SeolA and Luda joined forces with Weki Meki’s Doyeon and Yoojung on a single “Strong”. On September 19, the nonet came back, this time rebranded after roster changes with their fifth extended play, WJ Please?, while its title track, “Save Me, Save You” helped them receive their first ever Korean music show win on the October 2 episode of The Show

The group’s 2019 activities began with the release of their sixth mini album, WJ Stay? on January 8 and performing during their second solo concert, Would You Stay: Secret Box in early March and besides this, they welcomed the summer season with a special album, For the Summer on June 4. However, they started to gain much more recognition after the release of their seventh extended play, As You Wish on November 19 and the title track of the same name was unexpectedly crowned as one of the biggest New Year anthems in South Korea.

On February 22, 2020, WJSN were set to officially begin their first concert tour, Obliviate which would’ve visit Seoul, Osaka and Tokyo, respectively. Nevertheless, all six scheduled shows were unfortunately cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak and that the tickets will be refunded. Still, the group was able to move further regardless of the situation. On May 8, Starship Entertainment announced that they will come back with another mini album, this time their eight, called Neverland one month later. To keep the things going by the next few months, the company confirmed that WJSN will be debuting their first sub-unit, CHOCOME on October 7 with the single album, Hmph!.

In mid-March 2021, it was confirmed that WJSN’s ninth EP, Unnatural will see its daylight by the end of the same month and its promotions were carried out with only nine members, due to member Dayoung entering her health-related hiatus. Likewise, the group’s listeners were also able to see their darker side through WJSN THE BLACK, which debuted on May 12 with the title track “Easy”, off of My Attitude.

On February 21, 2022, Mnet revealed that WJSN would be one of the six competitors on a Queendom 2, while Starship stated that member Dawon won’t be participating in the show due to health concerns and Bona (for the first seven episodes) to focus on the shooting of Twenty Five Twenty One. Eventually, the group became its ultimate winners during the finale on June 2. In addition, platform Beyond LIVE announced that they would hold their first simultaneous offline and online concert, Wonderland between June 11 and 12. WJSN released their last comeback, Sequence, on July 5, 2022.
