MONAHAN William Brian

Willy Epson was a Melbourne rapper who is widely known as one of the most influential figures in the Australian underground rap scene. He is known for his rugged, unapologetic lyrics and delivery style, earning him the nickname ‘Lord Of Raw’.

Willy began his professional career in 2005 after signing with Rigorous Recordings with long time friends and fellow rappers Koziosko and Fiz The Ill Kid. During his lifetime, he appeared on 5 Rigorous albums, most notably the 2006 compilation album ‘Harvest 2’, where Willy appeared on four tracks, including his own solo track Big Willy Epson in 2007 released his only solo mixtape/album The Hektapes and a collaboration tape ‘Pitch Black’ with Koziosko, both releases considered underground street classics.

Willy Epson died in 2011 tragically in Potts Point, Sydney. While the cause is currently unknown, some speculate on the Internet that he was murdered or he had a drug overdose. His legacy continues to this day, with his name appearing in lots of graffiti art across Australia, and his tracks having over hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube.
