The mainstay kings of alt-country and rock Wilco hails from Chicago, IL. Blending expertly timed sequences, furious guitar and organ driven tracks, and lead singer Jeff Tweedy’s signature grainy vocals, Wilco has cemented itself as a mainstay of the scene.

The band was formed in 1994 from the ashes of alt-country outfit Uncle Tupelo and since 2004 consists of Jeff Tweedy (lead vocals, guitars, bass, harmonica), John Stirratt (bass, guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), Glenn Kotche (drums, percussion), Mikael Jorgensen (samples and sound manipulation, keyboards, synthesizers, effects, piano, organ), Nels Cline (guitars, lap steel), and Pat Sansone (keyboards, guitars, backing vocals, synthesizers, maracas, tambourine).

The band name is derived from radio lingo, an abbreviation for “will comply” used in radio communication across military and commercial correspondence.
