Ahmed Ali, known professionally as Wegz, was born on September 11, 1998, in the Al Wardian neighborhood of Alexandria, Egypt. His family roots trace back to Luxor. He studied at El-Agami Higher Institute of Management Sciences and briefly worked at a telecommunications company before pursuing music full-time. His stage name, “Wegz,” was given by a friend.

Wegz began his music career in 2017 with tracks like “Batalow Fake” (collaborating with Hesham Raptor) and “BarbieQ,” which leaned toward hardcore rap. However, his breakthrough came with the 2018 trap anthem “TNT”, which showcased his signature mumble-rap style and Alexandrian slang.
