From the mind of Blegh’s Venus Vendetta, Vot is an experimental concept act that inhabits the electronic and ethereal, imparting that which blooms under the burgeoning emotions of an android created to feel. Vot explores the isolation of being the first of her kind, experiencing the space between a life manufactured and a life lived. Introducing herself in 2021 with the singles “Do You See Any Human In My Being?”, “Whiteroom”, and “4044”, Vot independently released her self-titled debut album Vot on April 21, 2023.

Venus/Vot works in collaboration with multidisciplinary designer Kayt “Tech” Meraw, together forming VOT Studios. On their About Us page, Vot is described as:

an artist that explores futurism and what an accessible, inclusive future could look like. Intertwining technology, love, and sci fi, she creates a musical and visual world where Black and indigenous women own code, where cops have been terminated and where human beings have the time that they need to be in love. Too often a world imagined where marginalized communities having the proper [resources] to be happy are considered a “utopia” when in truth this is a reality that must come forth in order for the world to survive. She wishes to make images and sounds that Queer BIPOC can find a safe place in, and to expand what the future could look like to everyone. Born to a Korean mother and African father who were both immigrants that fled to Canada, she first saw the world in Vancouver. While based in Seoul and her birth town, she has been trying to build a community where being a “futurist” is to be a revolutionary, and people prioritize keeping each other safe, while the kids are loved.
