violetsinthewater is an independent Ukrainian rapper working in the styles of grime, drill, jersey club, trap, trapsoul, jerk, spoken word, and cloud rap, an R&B artist, songwriter, lyricist, ghostwriter, and poet from Poltava. He represents his hometown of Lokhvytsia, his own indie label VITW, and the crew LH City Gang.

violetsinthewater is an Eastern European rap innovator blending multilingual lyricism with a cohesive underground aesthetic.

In his works, he combines Ukrainian and foreign languages, many years of listening to global hip-hop, and a love for international culture. A graduate in Germanic and Romance philology and a PhD in Germanic Languages and Literatures, he is a certified interpreter, translator, and a teacher of foreign languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and Latin. He independently studies Greek, Polish, Hebrew, Arabic, and many other languages and has been interested in world linguistics for more than ten years.
