Venturing (stylized as venturing) is an alternative side project of Jane Remover.

The backstory for venturing described it as an American rock band, formed in Britton, South Dakota, in 1990. The band had a total of six members: Steve Dales on drums, Barney Cruz on bass, Fawn, Vonnie Fitz, Daisy Knight on guitar, and Melanie Dizzy, who sang. The band disbanded in 2002 shortly after the untimely death of their drummer, Stephen “Steve” Dales.

They debuted with their demo collection, Demos For Me, on August 10th, 1990, and followed up with their debut album, It Comes And Goes, a year later. After the sudden death of Steve and before disbanding, the band released their second studio album, Beachgoer, on January 15th 2002. The EP Arizona was a 1 of 1 CD from 1995 that the band recorded between albums.

Although the story was a well-built internet mystery for the listeners to solve, just like Panchiko’s viral story, Jane decided to scrap the lore and make venturing their second alias.

It used to be like a fake band that I came up with, and I was like going to do lore for it, and then I decided not to, and then […] I got so much flak on Twitter because people misconstrued [my words]. […] There was lore, […] I just didn’t feel like telling a story anymore, you know what I mean […] I don’t think I’m a good storyteller. I just wanted to make music.

After dropping the lore, Remover released four singles promoting their debut album under the alias, Ghostholding. A day before the album’s first anniversary, Jane released “In the dark,” which served as a closing of the Ghostholding era, and a break from the project.
