Vayda
AKA: Victoria Bryant
Vayda is a producer turned rapper from Atlanta, Georgia with an undeniably fresh take on underground rap. Her jam-packed bars laid over expertly manipulated samples create her groovy and inventive sound. Her production whisks listeners into a magical, digital, future-focused world that feels like home thanks to her constant use of samples from 80s and 90s R&B, soul, hip hop, and more. Mixing styles like plugg, drill, and Jersey club, Vayda embodies what new rap can be like now that the Internet is grown. Her music is equally at home in a packed club, on an iPod, or in the bedroom.
At first Vayda set out to be a producer, but when rappers kept asking for beats styled like other producers and rappers, she realized she had to get behind the mic herself to pioneer the style she had in mind.
After warming up with five mixtapes in 2022, Vayda dropped three EPs in the first half of 2023: shade, breeze, then dawn, doubling her buzz online. She didn’t even finalize the tracklist for breeze till day of but every track hits. Her debut album FORREST GUMP came by the end of the year. She dives deeper into her electronic & soul sample based groove in VAYTRIX.
The bold self-expression in Vayda’s writing offers something new for people who grew up shy: a confident approach to life, refusing to perform social norms and only connecting with others on your own terms. Whether she’s whispering or rapping loud, Vayda speaks her mind.
