Twisted Nerve were a Scottish goth rock band from Edinburgh. They originally formed in 1978 as a punk band named The Insults, but at one point they changed their name to Twisted Nerve, named after the 1968 movie of the same name. As the 80s went on, their style became more goth-like.

In 1980, they made their debut on the compilation EP Mint Sauce For The Masses with the songs “Neutral Zone” and “Vertigo,” a cover of the Open Sore song of the same name. The band would then release their first single, Caught In Session, in 1982, and two other singles in 1983, Five Minutes Of Fame ‎and Eyes You Can Drown In. Then, in 1984, they would release their mini-album Séance.

They split up in 1986 after some conflict between the bandmembers and a show at Teachers College, Edinburgh, that the lead singer Craig Paterson said was “so awful that after the last song [he] walked off the stage, straight out the door, and never returned.”

The band would later reform in 2007 and perform at the Drop Dead Festival in Prague. Since then, their older songs were reissued and the band continues to perform.
