Tuff
Tuff is an American glam metal band formed in phoenix arizona in 1985 by guitarist Jorge de Saint and bassist Todd chase. The group had revolving door of members for the next year, playing shows on the phoenix circuit. The band released their debut EP “knock yourself out” in 1986. Shortly after the EP’s release, lead vocalist Jim Gillette left the band to form another band called nitro, he was promptly replaced by Stevie Rachelle. The group was signed to Atlantic records in 1990, with their debut album “what goes around comes around” releasing in 1991. The album had decent success with the power ballad “I hate kissing you goodbye” reaching #3 on dial MTV. The band was dropped from Atlantic records the following year. The band struggled finding another label, and Rachelle founded his own label, RLS in 1994 through which the band released their second album “fist first” that same year. In 1995 fist first was re released by BMG under the new title “religious fix” with two bonus tracks. In 2001 tuff released the parody track “American hair band” a song that criticized grunge, and alternative rock. Today tuff remains a relatively unknown band, the lead singer Stevie Rachelle, is infamous in the rock community for his website metalsludge.com a gossip website about rock stars.
