ToBy
“With his patterned enunciations and rhythmic commentary reminiscent of an early Childish Gambino, the messages throughout his multi-layered orchestrations provide an entertaining platform for connection and influence.” – AfroPunk
“ToBy’s vibe is so real and relatable I can’t help but get sucked into his poetically poignant world. It’s a moody and melancholy production but the vocals oscillate between resigned despair and visceral angst.”– Nest HQ
ToBy’s influences swing like a pendulum from the Pet Shop Boys, O.A.R., Tears For Fears and Simon & Garfunkel he’d hear from his father to Nujabes, Jay Electronica, early Kanye West, JAY-Z & Lupe Fiasco he immersed himself in during high school. Then there was the Haitian music played in his grandmother’s household such as Carimi, T-Vice & Sweet Mickey, or the John Legend he’d hear blasting at his aunt’s house.
