Thornhill
Thornhill are a 4-piece post-hardcore/metalcore band from Melbourne, Australia, consisting of Jacob Charlton on vocals and guitar, Ethan McCann on lead guitar, Nick Sjogren on bass and Ben Maida on Drums.
They formed in high school in 2015 with former guitarist Sam Anderson, participating in their local Battle of the Bands. Their first releases were the 13 EP (2016) and the self-produced single “Temperer” (2017), which gave Thornhill great exposure and opportunities to tour with fellow metal bands. By the end of that year, Sam Anderson left the band and guitarist Matt Van Duppen took over his role.
In 2018, Thornhill signed with the independent record label UNFD and they released the Butterfly EP the same year, embarking on their first-ever headline tour.
Thornhill’s 2019 debut album, The Dark Pool, broke through the charts and online media. This record defined the band’s unique sound and conceptual themes of life and death.
Three years later, their sophomore album Heroine was released into the world. Opposed to The Dark Pool, this record touches on relationships and heartbreak. This is also their last release with guitarist Matt Van Duppen.
In late 2023, they released the standalone single, “Viper Room.” The following year, they slowly put out the singles for their third album BODIES, which ultimately released on April 4, 2025, and its deluxe version BODIES X on November 7, 2025.
