The Wiggles are Australia’s premier children’s entertainers and are a global cultural phenomenon. Formed in 1991, their trademark includes cheerily coloured turtleneck skivvies, and nonsensical lyrics paired with upbeat rock and pop style songs for children.

The original line-up consisted of Murray Cook wearing red, Jeff Fatt wearing purple, Anthony Field originally wearing green but later changing to blue, and Greg Page wearing yellow. Page retired in 2006 due to ill health, and his understudy Sam Moran took over duties in the yellow skivvy for the next five years. Page returned in 2012, but later retired again along with Cook and Fatt. All three retain creative and production roles.

In 2013, a new group of Wiggles starting touring in place of Greg, Murray and Jeff. This group consisted of Emma Watkins (Yellow Wiggle), Simon Pryce (Red Wiggle), Lachlan Gillespie (Purple Wiggle) and prior member Anthony Field (Blue Wiggle).

In 2021, the group expanded, highlighting ethnic diversity with a second member for each colour: Kelly Hamilton (Yellow), Tsehay Hawkins (Red), John Pearce (Purple) and Evie Ferris (Blue). This change was introduced with Fruit Salad TV, causing them to be known as “The Fruit Salad TV Wiggles.”

However, later that year, Emma left the group in order to focus on other passions, including completing her PhD. She passed down the yellow skivvie to Tsehay, and is now raising awareness about the deaf community in Australia as a standalone performer.

Following this, as well as Kelly’s exit in 2022, Evie became a secondary Yellow Wiggle, and two new members were added to fill in the gaps: Caterina Mete (Red) and Anthony’s daughter Lucia Field (Blue).

The Wiggles continue going from strength to strength and were named Australia’s highest entertainment earners in the late 2000s – Business Review Weekly ranked them number one four years in a row, earning A$45 million in 2009.
