The Train Set were formed in the mid-eighties in Crewe, Cheshire and eventually moved to Manchester.
They signed to Playhard records and released two singles-1988’s ‘She’s Gone’ and 1989’s ‘Hold on".
'She’s Gone’ fared well in the Indie charts and quickly sold out. They lost that success, however, after they were unable to get more copies printed and their second single was delayed.
They toured with The Happy Mondays and James but didn’t release anymore material.
In 2015 they issued out the CD compilation ‘Never California’ which included both singles and previously unheard tracks.
