Lost Sounds were a Black Wave band from Memphis, Tennessee formed in March 1999 by Jay Reatard and Rich Crook (ex The Reatards) and Alicja Trout (ex The Clears), but disbanded in 2005.

The band recorded itself with Alicja providing the band’s album art. In 2001, they were signed to Empty Records. This brought to the world Black Wave (2001) and Rat’s Brains and Microchips (2002).

Alicja and Jay dated for several years, but the relationship eventually dissolved. Despite the group’s EP Future Touch (2004) release and a self-titled full length album, Lost Sounds didn’t outlast the breakup. The band fell apart after the European tour— with their last show being in Germany, in 2005.

Jay Reatard died in 2010, but left behind an impressive track record of recordings. Alicja Trout has continued to put out music— playing in River City Tanlines, Mouserocket, Black Sunday, and Sweet Knives. Rich Crook went on to form Lover! (2006) and Thing (2013).
