The Klezmatics are an American klezmer band based in New York City, known for their multilingual music rooted in Ashkenazi diasporic history, multiculturalism, and the modern world. Their music frequently combines old poetry with contemporary music. The band is prolific, with over sixteen records released.

Their first record Shvagyn = toyt was released in 1996 with Piranha Music, and followed up the following year with Rhythm and Jews. In 1995 they released Jews with Horns with the label Flying Fish.

In 1997, they released Possessed, a collaboration with playwright Tony Kushner on his adaptation of The Dybbuk. 1998 brought another collaboration with Chava Alberstein for The Well.

In 2003 they released Rise Up! Sheyt Oyf!, followed by Brother Moses Smote the Water, a live Jewish gospel collaboration with Joshua Nelson and Kathryn Farmer.

The band released their record, Wonder Wheel in 2006 using lyrics by Woodie Guthrie, followed up by Woody Guthrie’s Happy Joyous Hanukkah later that year.

In 2011, they released a live double album, Live at Town Hall, and Apikorsim (World Village) in 2016. They released Letters to Afar in 2021.

In 2025, they revisited two of their previous albums in the form of Rhythm and Jews Revisisted and Woodie Guthrie’s Happy Joyous Hanukkah – Extended.

Their most recent work, We Were Made For These TImes, featuring several collaborations with La Manga and The Lavender Light Gospel Choir was released in May 2026.
