The (John) Candy is a three-piece samplecore band from Orange County, CA. Formed as a side project for the metalcore band Insolitas, the initial idea for the group was to pay tribute to beatdown hardcore bands and the late eponymous actor by heavily sampling him in their music. After recording a single EP in 2005, the band would remain dormant for over a decade. During this time period, the band’s drummer would go on to work in the EDM scene, which would eventually be the catalyst for the project’s revival in 2017. With a broad range of music genres and movie quotes sampled in their music, the band has been described as “the Girl Talk of metal.”
