The Dodos (originally Dodo Bird) are an American indie folk band from San Francisco, CA which formed in 2005, consisting of guitarist and singer Meric Long and drummer Logan Kroeber.

Regarding the origin of their band’s name, Long said:

When I was little, my mom used to, my mom’s French for those of you who don’t know, out there, and she used to tell me “Fais dodo,” which is a French expression which means, “Go take a nap,” when you’re bad. So she told me that, and here we are, taking naps for being bad.
