The Angelic Process was a post metal band from Athens, Georgia. They are known for pioneering the post metal subgenre known as doomgaze; though the term doomgaze was coined in the mid 2010s by This Will Destroy You, at the time their music was referred to as ambient drone metal. They were active from 1999 to 2007, when the main member Kris Angylus suffered a hand injury which left him unable to make music. He would die of suicide on April 26th 2008. Monica Dragynfly, the second member and ex-wife to Kris Angylus, passed away on her birthday, April 1st 2023, at the age of 46.
