The prime dutch progressive metal band Textures formed in 2001 and self-released their debut album, “Polars,” in 2003, which was re-released by Listenable Records in 2004. The album was called genre-defining and opened the way for Textures to build their sound by taking all parts of the production process into their own hands.

The band self-produced their albums, created their artwork, and built their own studios. In 2011, Textures signed with Nuclear Blast, releasing “Dualism” and “Phenotype.” They have shared the stage with Meshuggah, Sepultura, and Machine Head, and toured with Periphery, Amorphis, and Arch Enemy. Bands such as Gojira, Volbeat, Parkway Drive and Architects supported them in their early years.

Their albums “Silhouettes” and “Dualism” are considered influential in the development of the modern djent genre, influencing bands such as Periphery, Animals as Leaders, and Tesseract.

Textures has a devoted international fanbase, with significant popularity in India. They have performed at festivals including Hellfest, Lowlands, Graspop, Tuska Metal Fest, and Brutal Assault.

When disbanding in 2018, Textures left a significant hole in the global progressive metal community. However, after a break of 6 years, the pioneering Dutch metal six-piece has reformed and announced their reunion with a new album and a return to the stages in 2024.
