SZU the story of a survivor.

At 27 years old Sesugh Solomon was diagnosed with a meningioma. A benign brain tumor. During the year 2020 He underwent three surgeries, the first to remove the tumor and two additional to correct the effects of the tumor and the surgeries. At that time his body and being were reduced to ashes on the biological, chemical and mental levels. He spent the remainder of 2020 and 2021 recovering from the surgeries and working to regain the functions of his body affected by the event. During his initial recovery in 2020 Sesugh was diagnosed with a Cerebro spinal fluid leak this was a pain intensive and highly sensitive time, a 6 week period Sesugh describes as time spent on the plane of eternal suffering. In that time to get through this experience Sesugh stated he connected with something higher than himself, and entered a plane and state where he became aware of the amount of suffering existing on the planet. During that time he tweeted once success is achieved is there any point but to alleviate suffering.

This whole process was like a reset for Sesugh he was gifted time to reflect on his 27 years of life and given literally a new chance to live. He describes the feeling as similar to death and rebirth in the sense, that he was able to keep all of the lessons of his old life and yet he had a new perspective. In August of 2022 Sesugh now under the moniker SZU. Released a project called Hollow Tape. The word hollow is symbolic of being cut open and something being taken out of you, and the word tape is this art is a compilation of recorded music. The cover has the number 13 written on it 13 times. To Sesugh the number 13 represents completion of the clock or the end of a cycle. And in sense Jesus is the 13th disciple. The cover art shows dark imagery with a grey character that is called the “Hollow” and colored versions shown replicated and melting throughout. The hollow is metaphor for a greater force called the void. The colored characters that are melting represent the former lives and experience prior to the surgeries. And on the cover out of the main hollow there is a fire, and Sesugh’s name crossed out with SZU written above. The burning represents the detoriation of Sesugh’s physical body to the ashes and the rise and birth of new form.

Sesugh often describes himself akin to various birds, and they are the falcon, the hummingbird the raven. The falcon represents vision and sight, and the higher self the hummingbird is the playful creative and fruitful side of SZU. How he often appears to the world, the waking self. And the raven is the internal self and the messenger of the shadows. And lastly the phoenix as the symbol of rebirth the supreme self.

Upon Releasing Hollow Tape Sesugh thought that he had embraced the death of the old self and the habits and ways of living only to find that, there are still some parts of the past that are holding on. Sesugh is still working on himself. And with the next musical offering SZU. Presents Summers Night Dream, described as a letter, a departure and a message to the summer and the parts of the self that he needed to still work on to let go.
