Essentially the band Sade minus the iconic namesake frontwoman.

Formed between Sade keyboardist Andrew Hale, saxophonist/guitarist Stuart Matthewman, and bassist Paul S. Denman in the 8-year hiatus between Sade albums Love Deluxe (1992) and Lovers Rock (2000) while Sade the singer had a child and family commitments; they released a self-titled album in 1996.

They released another album, Stage 2, during another Sade hiatus between albums Lovers Rock and Soldier of Love (2010).
