Sublime with Rome

Sublime With Rome was a musical collaboration between Sublime bassist Eric Wilson and vocalist/guitarist Rome Ramirez, a young fan of Sublime. They initially formed and performed under Sublime in 2009, then changed their name to Sublime With Rome when the estate of deceased frontman Bradley Nowell said that he owned the rights to that name, and thus they couldn’t perform music under that name without permission from them.

The band started out with Eric and Rome alongside original Sublime drummer Bud Gaugh. This lineup released the album Yours Truly in 2011, the first album of new Sublime-related material since the original band’s breakup in 1996. Five months after release, Bud Gaugh left the band, eventually leading to the hiring of Josh Freese as their new drummer in 2012. This lineup released the album Sirens in 2015.

Two more releases, the album BLESSINGS in 2019 and the Tangerine Skies EP in 2023, later came out. Then later in 2023, Rome announced that he will leave the band by the end of 2024 to focus on his solo career, which was followed in February of 2024 by Eric Wilson announcing that he will leave as well to focus on performing with the reformed main band of Sublime with Bradley Nowell’s son Jakob on vocals. After these announcements, the band released one final album, the self-titled Sublime with Rome on May 10, 2024, embarked on a farewell tour that year, and then fully disbanded by the end of it.
