Strange Names is an American alternative rock band featuring drummer Fletcher Aleckson, guitarist Francis Ximenez and vocalist Liam Benzvi. Currently based out of New York, NY, the band originated in Minneapolis, MN while its founding members were studying at University of Minnesota. Strange Names released their debut album Use Your Time Wisely in 2015 on Frenchkiss Records.

Strange Names was featured as a “New band of the day” by The Guardian on May 8, 2015.

The bands sound revolves around tightly-knit drum beats and driving, funky bass-lines – a foundation that is orbited by ethereal synth patterns, warm vocal melodies and sparkly rhythm guitar. Influenced by New Wave acts of the late 70’s and early 80’s, the band has dubbed this sound “next wave”.
