Selim ‘'STK 23’‘ Kolat is a Turkish-American rapper who was born in Brooklyn but raised in İstanbul, Turkey. He was born on 9th of August, 2002. He started listening to rap music when he was 13 years and made his first rap song when he was 14 but he only shared it with his family. His second song was also in a pretty similar situation as his first song but instead, he decided to branch out and send it to a few of his close friends. The feedback he got from the song was overall great so he decided to do more. About 3 months later, in conversation with his aunt, she suggested that he used her studio for a more ’‘professional approach’‘ to his music. He immediatley agreed to this and next week, he was in the studio. The song he recorded that day though, didn’t please him so he didnt even show it to his parents. About a month later, he went back to the studio to record another song. He really liked this one but he wasn’t ready to post it anywhere yet although he shared it with a lot of his friends and again, got a lot of positive feedback. After another month later, he hit the studio again, and recorded what would be the first soundcloud single ever, ’‘No Flockin’ Remix'‘ under the name of ’‘King STK’‘. After a month later than that, he posted ’‘Flick On My Wrist’‘ which was recorded before ’‘No Flockin’ Remix'‘. After recording his 4th song, ’‘Ballin’‘’ which was again, recorded a month after his 3rd studio session, he decided to expand to bigger music sites like Apple Music and Spotify due to large demand by his friends who didn’t have a Soundcloud account.
When he finally posted it on these websites, the love and support from his friends about his music saw a huge increase which improved his motivation on perhaps pursuing this as more of a professional way. That’s where he is right now, stay tuned for updates.
