Single Gun Theory are a Dream Pop band from Australia formed in 1986. They have released three studio albums and gathered cult following, despite never managing to break through.

Their music often features vocal samples with emphasis on reportage from space, war, scriptures, but also religious chants. In turn, the percussion of their song “Man of Straw” was notoriously sampled on Alternative Rock band Garbage’s breakthrough single “Queer”, in 1995.

They composed the soundtrack to the movie The Monkey’s Mask in 2000 and after a North American tour they have been on a hiatus since 2001.
