Sidepony
What’s that you hear?
A distant, candy-coated cry into the void,
encapsulating your earholes with its sticky-sweet splendor. Never before have you expected such heavenly harmonies to fall from the sky and strike, lightning-style, into the minds of two unsuspecting side ponytails donning the heads of women who crave willing bodies to absorb their stories. The goal is not simple aural pleasure, but the small rumbling within that only takes place when ones unarticulated feelings are finally given a name, a heartbeat, a melody to sing in kitchens and cars, the singular wanting to scream it’s words at every passerby on the train until they too can participate in the utter joy of being so seen. While these sounds emerged from Bible Belt bedrooms, their inspirations span vast musical landscapes such as 90s early indie grunge, doo-wop and pop of the 50s, modern lo-fi, Appalachian folk, and 70s psychedelic rock. Despite the roller coaster of inspiration, Sidepony manages to find a cohesive home in the shared belief of music as a salve, a super-power, and the greatest possible connector of the human spirit.
