Shitkid began as a solo feminist punk project for Swedish singer/songwriter Åsa Söderqvist after she moved to Gothenburg. In 2015, she released an eponymous EP on Soundcloud which received so much attention that Söderqvist approached Swedish label PNKSLM four months later and they formally released the EP. There followed EP2, the album Fish, and This Is It [EP]. In early 2019, Söderqvist took on Lina Ericsson as bassist and co-songwriter and together, they released the album [DETENTION].
