Shingie-Lee
AKA: Leroy Twaibu
Since 2018, Shingie-Lee has been crafting an undeniable catalogue of underground hip-hop music that seamlessly stitches together trap anthems, old school rap and heartbreak songs with a sound that refuses to sit still.
Born Leroy Shingai (03 October 2003), His unique wordplay makes for an interesting listen, sometimes masking personal experiences and introspection through conceptual full length projects.
The production he builds himself is glitchy, bouncy and airy, sometimes abandoning drums entirely so a verse can hover in a void of hypnotic synths and sample fragments. It’s raw and sounds like the truth of a kid who started writing and making beats at age 15 and, simply never stopped perfecting his craft.
Verve Magazine called Shingie-Lee “North West’s Brightest Prodigy” in a July 2025 sit-down interview, but the artist has been building quietly on his own terms.
Since independently releasing EP’s like WAVES (2022) , OGMA (2023) and, his debut mixtape MANNEKIN: VOLUME 1 in 2024, his tracks have generated thousands of streams, landing on multiple Spotify playlists and packing small venues around Maglera supporting local acts.
Shingie’s latest offering, 2026’s MVII: YOUNG LEE (the mixtape) is dark, atmospheric and meticulously detailed. The project puts a cast of artists from Harare and Klerksdorp over his self-produced beats, reminiscing and capturing a unique coming of age time capsule of life on the streets of the two cities.
