The Irish band Sack, founded in Dublin, has been an integral part of the indie rock scene since the 1990s. Their debut album “You Are What You Eat” (1993) brought them early recognition with the single Colorado Springs – even Morrissey included the song in an NME compilation. With their follow-up album “Butterfly Effect” (1997), produced by Paul Tipler and Jacknife Lee, the band won over critics and fans alike. Morrissey raved about the song Laughterlines and took Sack on his world tour in 1999, which earned them a strong live reputation.

In 2001, “Adventura Majestica” was released on their own label, Jetset Junta. A serious traffic accident then forced the band to take a break for almost twenty years. It wasn’t until 2021 that they made their comeback with the single “What A Way To Live”, which was promptly hailed as “Single of the Year.” An anniversary edition of “Butterfly Effect” followed in 2022. With their album “Wake Up People!” (2024), Sack once again achieved widespread recognition; critics called it their strongest work to date.

Frontman Martin McCann is also heavily involved in the LGBTQIA+ community.
Sack remains a formative force both musically and socially far beyond Ireland.
