Rupert Holmes (born David Goldstein on February 24, 1947) is a British-American songwriter, singer, and performer. He is perhaps best known for his songs Escape (The Pina Colada Song), Him, Terminal, as well as the controversial song Timothy by The Buoys.

Rupert started out working with songwriters Paul Vance and Lee Pockriss, working with their groups such as The Cuff Links and The Street People. In 1974, he launched his solo career with the release of the album Widescreen.

Today, Holmes continues to write and play music, but he also writes his own stage plays and books. His most recent book is the 2023 mystery novel Murder Your Employer: The McMasters Guide to Homicide.
