Pyramid Mission (industrial hiphop / synthpunk) is a vivid, rebellious roar into the digital ether. Emerging from the neon-soaked underbelly of the Internet’s dreamscape, their work is a visceral collision of both the gritty and the anthemic that commands attention with an unyielding pulse. Their work is an eclectic and impassioned reimagining of industrial hiphop with every beat a sledgehammer and every hook a rallying cry.

In early 2023, Gio Ra (vocals/production) & Saint Quentin (production/drums) found themselves sharing a recurring dream of an enigmatic deity – a God, a Demon or perhaps something in between – whispering secrets and revelations that compelled them to transmute these ethereal messages into music. Igniting a profound fascination with how the Internet is reshaping human consciousness. The duo channelled these otherworldly murmurings into their incendiary debut album, Spit in the Eye, releasing June 21.

Spit in the Eye is an eclectic fusion born from dreams and visions, where the digital and the organic collide. Their music is built on a foundation of resampled internet fragments, ranging from classical music to deep-fried meme videos, creating unique sonic landscapes anchored by a love of pop songwriting.

Gio Ra, an award-winning art music composer, in 2023 received sponsorship from the Australian government and toured Thailand in collaboration with Thai composers. His lifelong fascination with digital aesthetics began with early childhood explorations of Nintendo 64 games, leading him to delve into the intersection of human technology and spirit. Gio’s experiences in multiple extended Buddhist meditation retreats, undertaken alongside bandmate Saint Quentin, deeply influence the music and lyrics of Pyramid Mission.

Saint Quentin, a queer multidisciplinary artist and award-winning audio engineer, has produced albums that have topped the iTunes Independent Music Charts. With 15 years of drumming experience and a passion for internet culture and digital art, Quentin also develops custom multimedia audiovisual shows for Pyramid Mission and tours as a drummer/AV artist for artists around Australia.

Their approach is one of reconstruction not mere destruction, drawing comparisons to contemporaries JPEGMAFIA, Death Grips and Machine Girl with arcane yet infectious lyricism for a critically acclaimed sound. Tommy Faith (Triple J) declared them “a cataclysm, pure destructive energy. Adore it”. HEAVY Magazine described them as “acid on steroids” and Anthony Fantano (The Needle Drop) during a livestream expressed that their latest single CHURCH was “like getting tased…but in a good way”. They decided to take this a compliment.

With shows blending ferocious, straining performance with custom-made audiovisual installations by the band themselves, to immerse oneself in Pyramid Mission’s world is to step into a realm where the lines between the organic and the synthetic blur. An impassioned cry of the power of the human spirit resounds through a collapsing digital dystopia, evoking images of transhumanist angels, glitching holograms and electric storms cutting through night skies.
