AKA: mikey, Michael-Raymond Javier Taylor, Mikey Taylor

Michael-Raymond Javier Taylor (born August 1, 2005), professionally known as prettifun, is an American recording artist and record producer from Charlotte, North Carolina.

Growing up in the lower middle class part of Charlotte, throughout middle school and high school, pretti participated in theater, even attending an art school for theater, but later dropped out to graduate from a different high school. Through an interview with The Fader, pretti stated that theater got him into singing and how to structure songs:

Once I got into [theater], it was still weird, but there was a lot of things I learned from it: singing and dancing at the same time, how to control my breath, knowing musical notes [or] how to structure a song

Inspired by Pi'erre Bourne, prettifun’s music combines the current day rage music with bright synths, distorted 808s, and a maximalist “wall of sound” compared to video game atmospheres, alongside with his voice paring the euphoric, chiptune-inspired production with a baby-voiced delivery. He has characterized “fun” through his work as more broadly about creativity and engagement rather than always upbeat themes.

pretti started making beats at the age of 13, when he began using drum pads, then incorporating DAWs into his production. He would then begin rapping during the COVID-19 pandemic at the urging of his friend ezcodylee, who helped pretti in his earlier work. Around this time, pretti connected with members of the now-defunct collective 4ersona, which included Rich Amiri, skaiwater, and Che, with whom he would later collaborate frequently. While working part-time in Charlotte, pretti would release his first album Hi-Fi with Hitech on September 29, 2023.

Entering into 2024, pretti would start to gain traction through his production work from Che’s “Pizza Time” and “Miley Cyrus” songs, alongside doing other production work for Protect. His own projects, Pretti and FunHouse, would further establish the artists as both a rapper and producer, with songs such as “Ice Cream,” “Light,” “Feel Like Uzi,” and “Touch The Sun” would all gain attention through the underground scene. He would release the deluxe version to FunHouse on August 1, 2025.

Pretti is expected to have a huge 2026, with three upcoming projects coming that year, being Pretti Loves U 2, Hi-Fi 2 and You Can Die Laughing. It was also announced that Pretti is expected to be an opener for Ken Carson’s upcoming xperiment tour.
