Pouya

AKA: Kevin Pouya, Baby Bone, Pou, Underground Underdog, MC Booty Crusha, Lil Pou

Kevin Pouya (born December 20, 1994), simply known as Pouya, is an American rapper in the South Florida underground scene. Pouya’s father is from Iran, and his mother is from Cuba. He was part of the underground Miami collective Buffet Boys, which he started with long-time collaborator Fat Nick.

Known for his long hair, introspective raps, and fondness of Cadillacs, Pouya has made a big name for himself in the Florida underground scene. He is influenced by a variety of horrorcore rappers including Cleveland group, Bones Thugs-n-Harmony.

While living with Fat Nick at Nick’s mom’s house, Pouya released his debut mixtape, Fuck It. In an interview with The Hundreds, he talked about what his life would be like if he didn’t pursue music:

Before I was rapping, I was a busboy, so I guess I’d be doing that shit. I’m not gonna sell drugs, ‘cause fuck that. I sold drugs—everyone sold drugs—I sold weed in high school. That’s how I met my DJ, Don Krez from Buffet Boys because I was selling him weed. I had just started rapping, and he was like, “I fuck with your stuff.” And Yung Simmie.

Pouya has collaborated with notable rappers, including Ghostemane, New Orleans duo $UICIDEBOY$, and Rich Brian. His former fellow Buffet Boys associate Mikey the Magician often produces for him.

Initially, Pouya’s goal in rap music was to distance himself from traditional underground rappers and rap about his background of poverty, but he has since expanded his content to a wider array of topics. A recurring subject throughout his catalog is automobiles made by American car manufacturer Cadillac. He owns a 1996 DeVille, which he often boasts about in lyrics.

His debut studio album, Underground Underdog, claimed the second spot on the iTunes Top Hip Hop Albums list and charted at #156 on the Billboard 200.
