Potty Monkey endures. Potty Monkey, also known as Choi Hong-chul, is a rapper with a most unique career in the Korean Peninsula. His career began in 2016 as a Facebook sensation with 500k followers before casually switching to a YouTube channel with 540k subscribers.

He made a big impression on the K-hip-hop scene in 2019 with his debut EP “22.” Naturally, he became a cult icon after the internet lost its collective mind. The EP itself was treated as a joke by his fans, but he received nods from E SENS and Beenzino for his musical traits, and ties with K-hip-hop hotshots like The Cohort proved he wasn’t just a meme with a mic.

In 2025, Potty Monkey signed to THE NICE MUSIC label and released his new EP “Stairs.” He is solidifying his reputation as a one-of-a-kind rapper with each new release.
