Poe

Poe, born Anne Decatur Danielewski on March 23, 1968, is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. Poe’s musical style is a fusion of rock, jazz, electronica, folk, and hip-hop elements, characterized by intimate and emotionally charged lyrical compositions. Her songs have gained significant recognition, featuring prominently in films and television show.

Poe achieved mainstream success in the modern rock genre in 1995, with notable singles such as “Angry Johnny,” “Trigger Happy Jack,” “Hello,” and “Hey Pretty.” The accompanying music videos received substantial airplay on MTV. Poe spent six years with Atlantic Records, before disappearing from the scene in 2001 due to a mishandling by her label, Modern, due to the Atlantic-Time Warner merger.

One of Poe’s pioneering achievements was her early engagement with her online fan community. Her website, along with the fan sites that supported her early career, predated modern social networking platforms and were among the pioneering efforts in this field.
