One of the key figures in helping Australian hip-hop become a more commerically succesful genre, Pegz (Tirren Staaf) is a former rapper and CEO of Obese Records, the largest hip-hop label in the country.

Born and raised in Melbourne, Victoria, Pegz has been involved with Australian hip-hop since the early 90s, starting out as a graffiti writer before moving on to rapping. He scored a job at the Obese Records retail store in 2000, and in the following year, he put out his debut self-titled EP, Pegasus. In 2002, he succeeded Shazlek One as head of Obese Records, and released three studio albums between 2003 and 2007, before taking a few years off to focus on managing the label, which was constantly growing, with artists like Hilltop Hoods, Bliss n Eso and Drapht being some of the first few artists signed to the label to see major commerical success.

In 2009, his new group Gully Platoon, which comprised of himself, Dialectrix and Joe New, made their debut with the album, The Great Divide, and in 2011, he dropped Drama, his fourth studio album.

On 7 May 2016, Obese Records was shut down without any specific reason given. Pegz made a brief return in 2018 with his fifth and final album, Equilibrium, which was co-created with Silent Titan, but has since disappeared from the public eye.
