PeelingFlesh
Reigning from the hometown of Oklahoma, PeelingFlesh are an American slam death metal band, known for blending elements of slam with hardcore influences, alongside heavy samples of hip-hop and Blaxploitation films, resulting in what they refer to as “Slamming Gangster Groove,” a play on Walking the Cadaver’s tagline on referring to their music as “Slamming Gore Groove.”
Following the disbandment of the deathcore band Strangled, three of its former members-Mychal Soto, Austin Hirom, and Joe Pelletier-would form PeelingFlesh, alongside Jason Parrish and Damonteal Harris. Their first release dates back to June 2021, where they released their debut song “Bathtub Execution,” with their debut EP Slamaholics Mixtape being released on August 28, 2021.
The band would continue to release a slew of EPs and singles from 2022 and 2023, to which they would earn themselves a record deal with Unique Leader Records, alongside with Nuclear Blast Records, in which they distribute all physical copies of the band’s projects and merchandising. Their first major release would end up being Slamaholics Vol. 2, in which it included some fo the bands biggest songs to date such as “F.F.W.A.S.,” “Make a Move,” and “Intrusive Thots.” In the fall of that year, PeelingFlesh would earn themselves a spot at the Oklahoma Death Fest, performing alongside bands such as Dying Fetus and Cattle Decapitation.
Thanks to their newfound success in the slam scene, the band would continue to push forward with new releases, up to September 6, 2024, with the release of their debut studio album The G Code, which also was a major success, thanks to its song choices such as “Shoot 2 Kill,” “Perc 3000,” and its self-titled song. From there, the band would continue to release more projects and singles, and would see themselves performing more, including in big arenas and venues such as Madison Square Garden and the Hollywood Palladium.
In 2025, bassist Austin Hirom would depart form the band to spend more time with his family, being replaced by Chip Smith on January 22, 2026. The following month, the band was announced as a part of the lineup for the Louder Than Life music festival, scheduled to take place in September.
